FREE CUMBIA!
Thanks to ZZK’s mixtapes! My picks are the Diploesque Villa Diamante mix and the laid-back Chancha Via Curcuito album mixtape. Makes me think I should pony up the $17.98 and move both the ZZK compilation and the Rodante album from my wishlist to my hard drive.

Speaking of Diplo, the Benzi/Diplo collabo mixtape is out: Fear and Loathing in Hunts Vegas. It’s the Radiohead / Saul Williams pricing model, so pay what you want. I took advantage of my 20% raise–I went back to full-time employment–and gave a generous $8.
Your ambient history lesson
As I get older I have more musical patience. Songs that don’t go anywhere are tolerable; some of them (like the mighty mighty deathprod) are awesome. So it is with Gas’ complete discography (strangely cheapest when bought as mp3′s through a British site). The music sneaks up on you, so take your time with Boomkat’s full-length samples.
Mp3 deal of the week month lifetime!
Speaking of history, travel back to 1999 and get Mos Def’s Black on Both Sides for $2!
Did you hear me? TWO DOLLARS!!! Wow!

Thanks for posting the Mos Def link, downloading now. I’ve always wanted to grab some of his stuff but didn’t know enough where to begin.
No problem Chris, glad I could spread the awesomeness of Mos Def. and $2? Man, what a deal.
Off-topic: read your Twitter/Yammer post… how many twitterers are you following? How much of a time sink is it? What do you really find most useful? I took a look at it a long time ago (in fact I think I’m following you) but stopped using it. I’ve been waiting to find a use for it (I did find this).
BTW, I googled Chris Winters and found your new business. Congrats! :)
Re: twitter. I’m currently following about 210 people. It seems like a lot, but I’d guess that only 25% of them post on a given day.
It tends to be a between-the-thoughts sort of time sink. I don’t pay attention to it all the time, but when I do a compile or run a set of tests, or get interrupted (often!) I take a look. The tool (gtwitter) I’m using is pretty basic but it prevents me from directly looking back more than 15 posts or so. You can always go to the website, of course, but the added barrier is useful.
Re: the other Chris. He and I have been fighting for the top ‘chris winters’ google spot for a long time, Nobody would confuse the two of us :-) (although he did used to be a Delphi developer)
Thanks Chris. I decided to go easy and put a twitter client on my google homepage. Let the usefulness begin!
