The tl;dr crowd might summarize Steve Yegge’s latest article as “it’s harder than you think.” But that would miss the entertainment of Steve’ writing (see above). It would also miss the comments which, while not perfect, are good enough to summarize my opinion:

And it’s obvious but bears repeating: the law != code.
Yeah, I started reading it when it popped up in my RSS reader, but Stevey uses too much words and I got bored after a while and clicked away to failblog or something. I think I was turned off by the line, “It’s only about a 4- or 5-hour read: beyond the reach of most social-network commenters, perhaps, but you can probably handle it just fine.” To took umbrage with this, which prompted me to look up the definition of “umbrage.” By that point, I decided I’d see what was new on emusic and maybe check out the latest CandH. What are we talking about again?
